Public Libraries Submissions and Deadlines

Submissions to PL are invited and encouraged. If you’re interested in writing a feature article, a shorter opinion piece, reviewing books, or sending press releases, please read the editorial guidelines.

Members: Use Public Libraries to Get the Word Out About Your Group's Activities

Public Libraries is a great vehicle for communicating with PLA members. If your group is part of a PLA cluster, call your cluster editor to discuss items you would like to have considered for inclusion in Public Libraries. If you are a member of a division-wide committee, send a press release to Public Libraries' editor. Committee news items should be brief.

Production Schedule

PLEASE NOTE:  This schedule pertains only to articles that have already been accepted and are scheduled for publication. Manuscripts are considered on a rolling basis in the order in which they are received. If you are unsure of the status of your submitted manuscript, please contact Kathleen Hughes at khughes@ala.org.

Submissions

Manuscript Submission
All submissions will be reviewed in a double-blind process to insure that all published papers are of high quality
Submit manuscripts and supplemental materials through the online Aries Editorial Manager system. A paper copy is not necessary. Authors are first be asked to register. Upon registration the author will immediately receive a notification e-mail containing his or her username and password and can then “LOGIN” to the system. The author will be directed through the process to enter information about the paper (author/s, title, abstract, etc.) and to upload the files (manuscript, figures, tables, appendixes).
