ALA 2009 Virtual Conference   

Attend Annual Conference from your desktop this year with the American Library Association’s (ALA) new Virtual Conference.  ALA is offering 10 interactive Web sessions on Monday, July 13 and Tuesday, July 14 at the closing of the 2009 Annual Conference in Chicago.
Interact with speakers and other attendees during each of these hour-long sessions on a variety of exciting topics. 
These interactive programs from ALA’s Washington Office, the Office of Intellectual Freedom and several other divisions and offices will be the next best thing to being right at the Annual Conference itself.
Topics will include accessing stimulus money for broadband deployment, greening your library and best customer service.

5th Annual Empowerment Conference - "Who's Da Boss" : Leadership for Today
Registration opens Jan. 5, 2009

The ALA Conference Within a Conference for Library Support Staff- will be held Saturday and Sunday, July 11-12, 2009 in Chicago, IL during the 2009 ALA Annual Conference.
The Empowerment Conference is designed specifically for library support staff and features a variety of programs to enhance your career and improve library services to your community! Come learn from the noted library experts and leave with the 3 E's: energy, enthusiasm and excitement.

Registration for Empowerment 2009 is automatically included with a full Annual Conference registration. Separate registration is also available. Registration for LSSIRT members is $135 in advance, or $160 on-site.  ALA members and anyone else can register for this two day conference for $185 by March 6 and for $210 after the March 6 deadline and on-site. 

Co-sponsors: ALA Library Support Staff Interests Round Table (LSSIRT) and the ALA Office for Human Resource Development and Recruitment (HRDR).

Housing: Register for 2009 Annual Conference Housing
New this year! You must be registered for the 2009 Annual Conference before you can make your housing registration. At that time all you have to do is go into the registration system from a link on the ALA webpage and enter your registration confirmation number.  So be sure to save the confirmation number you receive when you register.

Exhibits Only, Exhibits Plus and Exhibits Supreme Registration   

An Exhibits Only badge is $25 and is good for all 4 days of the exhibits (Saturday-Tuesday) only. The Exhibits Plus badge is $35, and includes all four days of the exhibits, plus the Opening General Session. The Exhibits Supreme badge is $75, and includes the above, plus the ALA President's Program, Closing Session, and the Auditorium Speaker Series. Exhibits Only, Plus and Supreme badges will be available for advance registration, as well as for purchase on site. No refunds for Exhibits Only, Plus or Supreme registration.

 

Confirmations   

ALA Registration office will e-mail or mail a registration and housing confirmation. If you do not receive a written confirmation within one week, please call Experient's Customer Service Center at 800-974-3084 or email ala@experient-inc.com to verify the status of your registration and housing.

 

   

Badges

If registration is received by the advance deadline, your badge will be mailed to you no later than two weeks before the conference. If you registered online after the advance deadline or your registration was faxed or postmarked after the deadline, you will need to pick up your badge at the Will Call/Corrections Counter at Registration in McCormick Place.

Badges will not be sent to countries other than the U.S. and Canada. Residents of other nations may pick up badges at the Will Call/Corrections Counter in the Convention Center.

   

Refunds and Cancellations-

Substitutions are welcome at any time. Otherwise, registration cancellations must be made in writing and postmarked or faxed by the cancellation deadlines below. Cancellations will result in a full refund less a $25 processing fee, one per event ($50 for the Bundle Registration, see special cancellation policy below.) No phone cancellations will be accepted. No refunds for cancellations postmarked after the cancellation deadlines below. No Exhibits Only or Exhibits Supreme refunds. Refunds will be processed after the Annual Conference. Annual Conference Only: 5/22/09

Cancellation Policy for Bundled Registration

 

Written requests for cancellations for both events must be postmarked December 5, 2008, and will result in a full refund, minus a handling fee of $50 ($25 for each event). Written request for the cancellation of the Midwinter Meeting only must be postmarked by December 5, 2008, and will result in a refund minus the early bird registration rate of the Annual Conference and a handling fee of $25. Written request for the cancellation of the Annual Conference only must be postmarked by May 28, 2009, and will result in a refund minus the advance registration rate of the Midwinter Meeting and a handling fee of $25. Children's Policy
   

Strollers are permitted on the exhibit floor, but only if there is a child in them at all times. Unescorted children are not permitted on the exhibit floor. Children under the age of five must be restrained at all times (stroller, back pack, etc.). Any child over the age of five must have an exhibits only badge to be admitted to the exhibit floor. These badges are available at onsite registration for $25. An adult must accompany all children under the age of 16.

 

Meal Policy   

Meals are not included with regular Conference registration. Some preconferences, workshops and banquets include meals as part of an additional ticket price. This information is included with the description of the event.

 

Photos   

Your registration constitutes permission to utilize photos taken of you at the event for news, promotion and similar purposes.
