The American Association of School Librarians (AASL) offers a series of Licensed Institutes - full-day educational workshops available for use anywhere in the country.

The institutes offer:

Flexibility
The licensee determines the date, time, location, and size of the audience.

Convenience
AASL provides the presenter, travel and lodging for the presenter, and a master copy of the curriculum.

Affordability
The licensee has the option to charge a fee for the event.

Opportunity
Participants receive up to 8 contact hours.

Experience
All presenters are experienced speakers and subject matter experts on their topic.

The Institutes

AASL School Library Advocacy Institute

This Institute provides information, resources, and strategies that will help define advocacy and facilitate the development of long-term advocacy action plans for school library media programs. This Institute will incorporate various tools available to school librarians, including the AASL Advocacy toolkit of online resources, the marketing resources developed through the ALA @ your library campaign, and the resources that will assist school librarians in developing an advocacy action plan that goes beyond PR and marketing.

Reading and the Elementary School Library Media Specialist

AASL Seeks Presenter for "Reading and the Elementary School Library Media Specialist" Institute

This Institute addresses critical topics in reading for library media specialists who teach Pre-K-6th-grade students. The Institute will increase participants' understanding of current research on reading instruction, discuss how it informs school library programs, explore reading strategies, and explain what library media specialists can do to strengthen their role as literacy leaders in their schools.

This was an excellent program. Will be able to use the materials to help students improve their reading skills. Now have tools and information to use to impress upon my principal and the superintendent the need for librarians to be a part of the discussion on improving reading scores.

Allow AASL to help promote your event! AASL provides a notification of the planned event on the AASL Web site with a link to the licensee's Web site. AASL also provides descriptive and promotional information that the sponsor can use to develop publicity about the event.
